ALL-NEW SORENTO NOW AVAILABLE AT WILSONS OF RATHKENNY

• All-New Sorento sits at the top of Kia’s comprehensive SUV line-up

• Stylish, modern exterior design, with a high quality, high-tech cabin

• New platform accommodates hybrid and later, plug-in hybrid powertrains

• New ‘Terrain Mode’ enhances all-wheel drive capability

The All-New Kia Sorento is powerful, progressive and versatile. The fourth generation of Kia’s flagship SUV is designed and engineered to take on everything life throws at it, both on and off-road. The Sorento is available in a variety of specification levels, all of which can be ordered at Wilsons of Rathkenny.

The Sorento’s redefined exterior design – with sharper lines, high-tech details, and elongated proportions – gives it a more confident and mature presence. Inside, its attractive cabin also introduces premium-quality materials, cutting-edge infotainment technologies, and a stunning new design.

The Sorento is the first vehicle to be based on Kia’s new-generation midsize SUV platform. Paired with a larger body to maximise cargo and luggage space, the platform ensures the Sorento is one of the most versatile and spacious three-row seven-seater SUVs on the road.

David Simpson, Kia Sales Manager at Wilsons of Rathkenny commented: “The new Sorento is seriously impressive, so I have no doubt this car is going to be a hit. It’s a seven seat, go-anywhere, comfortable SUV that features as standard an abundance of brand new technology. It really epitomises just how far Kia has come in the recent years.”

Furthermore, the Sorento’s innovative interior packaging means it can offer all this while accommodating Kia’s new ‘Smartstream’ electrified powertrains – the first time that hybrid power has featured in the Sorento line-up. As a result, the new 1.6-litre petrol self-charging hybrid offers greater fuel efficiency and lower emissions, whilst still producing 226bhp and 350Nm torque. This power means that the Sorento boasts a massive towing capacity of 2,500kg for the diesel powered Sorento, and 1650kg for the self-charging hybrid.

Drivers have greater choice with the new model, as the Sorento currently comes with two powertrains. Customers can opt for the 2.2-litre CRDi ‘Smartstream’ diesel engine, producing 199bhp, or the 1.6-litre petrol self-charging hybrid. Both models are available to order at Wilsons of Rathkenny and will also be available as a Plug-in Hybrid variant in the near future.

The fourth-generation Kia Sorento is equipped with a newly developed ‘Terrain Mode’ as standard, which will provide Sorento drivers with improved traction, stability and control. The system will make the all-wheel drive SUV more capable than ever across a range of low-grip surfaces.

Drivers can use Terrain mode to choose from ‘Mud’, ‘Snow’ and ‘Sand’ modes. The system automatically optimises the drivetrain to best suit each scenario, adjusting engine torque output and distribution, as well as stability control characteristics. Terrain Mode also adjusts shift timings for the two available transmissions (eight-speed dual-clutch transmission for diesel models, six-speed automatic for hybrid variants) to suit different surfaces.

As standard the Sorento has a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, dual automatic air conditioning, an automatic defog system, rain sensing windscreen wipers and an auto-dimming rear view mirror as well as plenty of other features which aid driver comfort.

This will be Kia’s most high-tech car ever, thanks to its progressive connectivity, driver assistance and infotainment technologies. The cabin incorporates Kia’s latest 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system on grade ‘3’ and ‘4’ models, offering audio-visual navigation, and a new 12.3-inch high-resolution digital instrument cluster available on all grades. Exclusive to the Sorento, a powerful 12-speaker BOSE® surround-sound audio system is also available on top-of-the-range ‘4’ models, delivering a more immersive sound to all seven seats. The cabin’s Mood Lighting system lets users tailor the cabin even further, with the interior illuminated in one of seven pre-set ‘core’ colours selected specifically by Kia interior designs, or from a full gamut of 64 colours.

Active safety features included as standard are Kia’s latest Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) technology with pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle detection that also detects oncoming traffic when making a turn at a junction; Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Multi-Collision Brake Assist (MCBA), as well as multiple others. In terms of passive safety, as standard every Sorento is fitted with twin front airbags, twin curtain airbags, twin front-side airbags, all round 3-point seatbelts and impact sensing auto door unlocking.

The All-New Sorento offers higher levels of active and passive safety than many of its rivals thanks to Kia’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These help to reduce many of the inherent hazards and stresses of driving. Included as standard on the Sorento Lane Following Assist (LFA) controls acceleration, braking and steering depending on the vehicles in front. LFA operates using camera and radar sensors to maintain a safe distance from the car in front, while monitoring road markings to keep the Sorento in the centre of its lane. Available on the ‘4’ grade and new to the Sorento, Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), displays a high-resolution video feed in the driver’s instrument cluster if the driver indicates to change lane with another vehicle hidden in their blind spot.

The All-New Kia Sorento is powerful, efficient, and versatile, and can be ordered from with a Wilsons of Rathkenny starting price of £38,845.
